Aqidah

Aqidah is an Islamic creed. The term is usually reserved for a more complex expression of Islamic dogma and doctrine than the Shahada.

Sectarian differences between Shias and Sunnis are often expressed in aqidah.

Aqidah al-Tahawiyya [1] by Imam Abu Ja'far al-Tahawi al-Hanafi is regarded as an important Sunni creed. Al-Tahawi was a follower of Imam Abu Hanifa, founder of the Hanafi madhhab, one of the four central sharia schools in Sunni thought.

It is claimed by some Sunnis that the literalistic Wahhabi aqidah is anthropomorphic, which therefore makes Wahhabis non-Sunni.
