Bishop of Northampton

The Bishop of Northampton is the Ordinary of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Northampton in the Province of Westminster .

The diocese covers an area of 5,532 km² of the counties of Bedford, Buckinghamshire, and Northamptonshire together with the area of Berkshire to the north of the River Thames (formerly also in Buckinghamshire). The see is in the town of Northampton where the seat is located at the Cathedral Church of Our Lady and Saint Thomas of Canterbury .

The Vicariate Apostolic of the Eastern District was elevated to diocese status on 29 September 1850. Currently the bishopric is vacant following the appointment of the former bishop as Archbishop of Southwark on 6 November 2003.
