Clonskeagh

Clonskeagh or Clonskea (Irish Cluain Sceach, "meadow of the whitethorn"), is a suburb of Dublin in the north of county Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown in the Republic of Ireland. It is primarily a residential area, developed in the early decades of the 20th Century. It has no main centre, being defined by the Clonskeagh Road which spans its length. The River Dodder to the north separates it from Ranelagh; the campus of University College Dublin at Belfield is to the east; Goatstown and Dundrum to the south.

There is a mid-century Catholic church on Bird Avenue, and the Islamic Cultural Centre and primary school is off Clonskeagh Road. The former fever hospital at Clonskeagh Hospital is now a long-term care facility for the elderly. The population of Clonskeagh is a mixture of long-established families and older people, university students, and some Muslim immigrants, mainly from the Persian Gulf States. Other Muslim children attending the Islamic School arrive by bus from further afield.
