Delfzijl

Delfzijl is a municipality and a city in the northeastern Netherlands. Delfzijl is situated on the left bank of the Ems estuary, which forms the border with Germany.

Population centres

Bierum, Biessum, Borgsweer, Delfzijl, Farmsum, Godlinze, Holwierde, Krewerd, Losdorp, Meedhuizen, Spijk, Termunten, Termunterzijl, Uitwierde, Wagenborgen, Weiwerd and Woldendorp.


Industry

Delfzijl is the home of an aluminium plant run by Aldel (Corus). In 2004 the smelter produced a record 112,400 tonne liquid aluminium. The foundry produced 157,700 tonne raw product.
