Fish Hawk, Florida

Fish Hawk is an unincorporated census-designated place located in Hillsborough County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the community had a total population of 1,991.

Geography

Fish Hawk is located at 27°51'10" North, 82°12'31" West (27.852803, -82.208592).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 42.5 km² (16.4 mi²). 42.3 km² (16.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.37% water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,991 people, 678 households, and 581 families residing in the community. The population density is 47.0/km² (121.8/mi²). There are 798 housing units at an average density of 18.8/km² (48.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the community is 91.41% White, 4.12% African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.80% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.06% from other races, and 1.46% from two or more races. 6.08% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 678 households out of which 43.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 76.0% are married couples living together, 6.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 14.3% are non-families. 10.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.94 and the average family size is 3.16.

In the community the population is spread out with 29.6% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 35.7% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 6.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.4 males.

The median income for a household in the community is $65,857, and the median income for a family is $67,286. Males have a median income of $42,321 versus $35,662 for females. The per capita income for the community is $26,540. 3.3% of the population and 2.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 3.6% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
