J. Hillis Miller is an American deconstructive literary critic. Miller was born on March 5, 1928 in Newport News, Virginia. He is married and has three children. Having been educated at Oberlin College (B.A. Summa Cum Laude 1948) and Harvard University (M.A. 1949, Ph.D. 1952), he pursued a distinguished career in the Humanities.
