Jozef Dowbor-Musnicki

Józef Dowbór-Muśnicki (25 October 1867-26 October 1937) was first a tsarist Lieutenant-General, who served in Manchuria in 1904/05. Later on he became a Polish general, during the World War I the commander of the 1st Polish Corps in Russia in 1917-1918, and after the War, since January 1919, the co-organizer and commander-in-chief of Polish forces in the Greater Poland Uprising against Germany.

As a politician Józef Dowbór-Muśnicki was an opponent of Józef Piłsudski and the author of the book called Moje wspomnienia (My memoires). He retired in Lusowo near Poznań. He had one son and two daughters: Gedymin emigrated to France in the 1930s. Both daughters died as soldiers during the Second World War.
