Mordehai Milgrom

Mordehai Milgrom is a professor at the Weizmann Institute department of Condensed Matter Physics , located at 76100 Rehovot in Israel.

His current research interests include:

• Galaxy dynamics :
  • the dark-matter problem;
  • Modified Newtonian dynamics: As an alternative explanation to the dark matter and galaxies rotation curves problem, Milgrom suggested to modify Newton's Second Law for very small accelerations. His theory known as MOND.
  • cosmology.
• High-Energy astrophysics :
  • ultra-high-energy cosmic rays ;
  • gamma-raybursters ;
  • gamma- and x-ray sources.
