Phenyl

In chemistry, a phenyl-group is a hydrophobic aromatic functional group which is derived from benzene (C6H6). It has the formula

It is very often abbreviated:

-Ph

This hydrocarbon unit can be found in many organic compounds.

Typically results in an 1H NMR shift around 7.4ppm.
