Philippine Psychology is the Philippine branch of a more wider perspective of the Asian Psychology . Philippine Psychology is now being studied in some universities as part of their Psychology courses. It is also called Filipino Psychology. Philippine Psychology draws its ideas that, Filipinos are a unique people, socially, intellectually, historically, in perspectives, and in thought. It does not, however, apply traditional Psychological concepts, such as those of Freud and Jung, to the Philippine setting. But, it does sense and explain the different peculiarities of the various Philippine cultures, while centering on one major culture, that of the mainland Christian Filipinos.
Cultural Psychology
Philippine Cultural Psychology concernes itself with the various cultural peculiarities and aspects of the Filipinos (as as totality), such as certain rituals and beliefs, for example, the importance of fiestas and certain Philippine Mythology in the country.
Abnormal Psychology aspects
Certain Psychological disorders arise in the Philippines, as in other Asian countries, such as amok, susto, bangungot, koro, lihi (paglilihi), kulam and usog.
