Pietro Cardinal Gasparri (May 5, 1852-November 18, 1934) was a Cardinal from 1907 until his death, and the Cardinal Secretary of State from 1914 to 1930, when he retired to be succeeded by the future Pope Pius XII. From 1916 until his death he was Chamberlain of the Holy Roman Church, and Cardinal Pacelli (Pius XII) also succeeded him in that position.
