The Roman Catholic Diocese of Arlington is an ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in the southern United States comprised of several counties of the state of Virginia. It is led by a prelate bishop which serves as pastor of the motherchurch, Cathedral of Saint Thomas More in the City of Arlington.
The See of Arlington is composed of the Virginia Counties of Arlington, Clarke, Culpepper, Fairfax, Fauquier, Frederick, King George, Lancaster, Loudon, Madison, Northumberland, Orange, Page, Prince William, Rappahannock, Richmond, Shenandoah, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Warren and Westmoreland.
The diocese was canonically erected on May 28, 1974 by Pope John Paul II. It took its territories from the neighboring Archdiocese of Washington and Diocese of Richmond. The current Bishop is Paul S. Loverde .
