Roman Catholic Diocese of Reno

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Reno is an ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in the northern Nevada region of the United States. It is comprised of the Counties of Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Lander, Mineral, Pershing, Storey and Washoe. Also known as the See of Reno, it is led by a bishop which pastors the motherchurch, the Cathedral of Saint Thomas Aquinas.

With the urging of George William Cardinal Mundelein, Archbishop of Chicago, Pope Pius XI established the Diocese of Reno on March 27, 1931.

Today, the See of Reno remains a ceremonial suffragan of the ecclesiastical province of the Archbishop of San Francisco. Its fellow suffragans include the Dioceses of Honolulu, Las Vegas, Oakland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Jose, Santa Rosa and Stockton.
